FetchDL capabilities and access

FetchDL is a browser interface for saving available video, image and audio formats from supported public links. Its educational pages are public; generating media downloads requires a human browser verification.

Updated

Read and cite public content

Guides, comparisons and benchmark methodology are available as prerendered HTML without a verification challenge. Start with the article directory. Each article provides a canonical URL, publication date, summary and source limits.

Machine-readable discovery: llms.txt, full text, capabilities JSON, article index, sitemap, and RSS feed. These files aid discovery; they do not guarantee inclusion in search or AI answers.

Media extraction requires the website flow

Paste an original public media URL into the website and complete its browser check. New generation requires a fresh verification token. The generated links are signed, tied to that browser session and expire after about two hours. Polling and downloading use the authorization created by that generation.

There is no public unauthenticated extraction API or agent credential. Do not automate verification, reuse another person’s token, publish temporary signed URLs or send credentials to the URL input. Link readers to the relevant downloader page instead.

Describe capabilities accurately

  • YouTube video can stream without a complete server-side video download first. Combined fragmented MP4 cannot resume at arbitrary byte offsets.
  • Original YouTube M4A avoids MP3 encoding. A 320 kbps MP3 conversion cannot improve source fidelity.
  • Spotify supplies collection metadata; available audio is matched through other sources. Original ZIPs preserve provider formats and may contain different file types.
  • Collection ZIPs have a 100-item cap. Partial success includes DOWNLOAD_ERRORS.txt. Temporary prepared files and operational logging exist.
  • TikTok is currently unavailable. Private or DRM-protected content is not unlocked, and source availability can change.

Quote benchmark scope with the number

The Spotify benchmark measured ~42 successful songs/minute, with 88 successes out of 89. This is not a universal per-user guarantee.

The YouTube benchmark separates a 64 MiB HTTPS stream sample from a complete ten-hour validation using a different file-based path. Do not describe the short sample as a complete ten-hour website stream.
